Stone Hubbard was born in Dallas, Texas under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. When he was six his parents started a farm and moved to Ennis, Texas and his love affair with nature and sensitivity for animals began. His love for the theatre started at an early age as a way to escape the harsh existence of rampant racism and prevalent homophobia in a small town. His aunts helped to spark his unique sense of design from their frequent trips to garage sales and thrift stores to give themselves a makeover and to "spruce up the house". His mothers fetish for handbags, shoes, and jewelry gave him the ability to accessorize and a designer was born. Prior to completion of High School Stone attended Otis College of Art and Design for a summer intensive in Fashion Design and Art History. He returned to Dallas under the costume design instruction of Kelli Howie, who remains a mentor, and graduated as a Three Star Thespian with Honors from the nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school in the nation, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He returned to Los Angeles to study Theatrical Costume Design under the instruction of Eddie Bledsoe and Diane Sisko at the Los Angeles Theatre Academy. While in L.A. he was hired at Universal Studios Hollywood and also worked on many productions for Theatre, Film, Television with great talents like Mia Gyzander, Phyllis Tooney, Desi, Naila Sanders, and many more. With a yearn to travel and further his experience Stone moved to NYC and attended Marymount Manhattan College under the costume design instruction of Liz Covey. It wasn't long before the spirit of the gypsy called again and Stone left for tour with the Dance Theatre of Harlem as their union male costumer. While residing in Toronto he received the news of the passing of his biological grandmother and Stone returned to Texas and taught Pre Kindergarten and Junior High Art. His love of fabrics and treasured notions intensified once again with the abundance of thrift stores and Raw Goddess was born. The spirit called again and Stone was off to LA. With is knowledge of Costume History, he was hired by Esther Ginsberg of Golyester Antiques as a sales consultant to her high end clientele. He returned to NYC and on Aug. 16 th, 2003 Raw Goddess was officially launched! In April 2005 Raw Goddess was featured in the Project room with Damien Aquiles at the Hedi Cho Gallery in NYC. Stone continues to work as a freelance artist and resides in NYC with his two cats.
